@kitchin
That's a good question! I have not been, but it is worth checking... Argh! What a hidden sub-detail to need to upgrade.

Looking in the /usr/www/cgi-bin directory
php5.cgi filesize 23,283,721 last modified 11/20/2011

Looking in my cgi-bin directory
php5.cgi filesize 6,247,516 last modified 12/2/2009

Which makes me think I did update it... once.

This time I was lazy - used my ftp software to download it and renamed the old php5.cgi to .old and uploaded the new one. Site crash - oh yeah, gotta change the permissions to 755.

Grabbing the file and moving it via ftp is a lot easier for me than making sure I type the linux commands correctly.

If you can read this comment, then the site is apparently still up and functional.

Oh - and just making a change like this on a file that affects a whole bunch of live sites is kinda stupid, but I did this at 4am and I doubt any of my sites have any appreciable traffic in general but especially at 4am. I do wonder if there's a better way to change such a crucial file?

Thanks for writing this up! I had done this for other sites on pair for other reasons and didn't realize this was what I need to do for Wordpress updates. Awesome!

Thanks for this tip - it was starting to annoy me, works awesome, I'm surprised that pair doesn't default to this. Cheers!
